Santiago Chile Day 18 13

It seems that progress for us is in tiny steps. We read extensively on Horizon Unlimited and Adventure Rider how simple it was for even a non Spanish speaker to get the RUT, buy the bike, get insurance, wait for the homoglacion paper which you require to apply for the circulation paper…..this gives you the right to ride the bike. So far all of these requirements have led us around the city each to a different place. The last 2 days we have been to 4 different locations for insurance….each one denying us but referring us to another insurer. Seems they don’t want to insure us for other member Mercoser Countries which is basically a trade agreement amongst members. In desperation we turned to the net and a recommended on line insurer Magallanes.Third Party Insurance was approved for  Chile,Argentina,Bolivia,Paraguay and Peru ……cost $104.00 USA from Dec18th to March 30 2014. Next snag was I paid by Visa and only received a one line printout of policy number, licence # expiry……not my name or even the name of the insurance co. Ok here is really where you need language skills…..Antonio went and phoned the co….finding that they had an office about a 2o minute walk away. Finding it, I was relieved that they where for real and they quickly took my one line info and printed a complete policy.

Still one last problem before we can get the permission to circulate….the dam homoglacion paper it still is not in. Antonio has given them till 11 am tomorrow to come up with it…..then look out his Spanish may have a lot of adjectives thrown in…..lol
