Continued-from Lake George-June 10th/16

We left Lake George Friday morning heading towards Vermont via of hwy 4 which led us through Killington Vermont. Here Twisty turned us on a back country road #100 comes to mind.....sparse traffic , curves and hills made this an enjoyable ride through small farming communities which seemed lost in the 40's. Our ride was with dark overcast skies and sporadic rain which for the most part was either behind us or just ahead. We arrived arrived late afternoon in Littleton NH. Twisty had planned a day lay over so we could visit MT WAshington and ride through its valleys. Here, I was treated to my own bed and separate bedroom courtesy of my riding buddies....thanks fellows.
Next morning after a nice breakfast at a 50's style rail car diner, we headed off on paved tarmac, little traffic to experience motorcycle heaven which led us through Bartlett, Conway & Lincoln. Somewhere before Conway we lost Twisty who we learned later had his GEO Cache Radar detect a stash.......Don and I pulled over and eventually a beaming Twisty appeared happy to have scored a FIND. We pulled up to the entrance to the Top of Mt Washington but Don looking a bit pale after hearing that it was a DANGEROUS climb on a bike.....didn't want to conquer the hill.....so we opted out....or maybe we where to cheap to pay the admission.
It was early when we set out for French Canada, again on lightly travelled hwy #3. This had us crossing near Canaan NH....then on to Sorel Quebec to catch a Ferry across the St Lawrence. We scored our 1st up scaled hotel with Twisty trying to no avail to get further discounts for any variety of reasons...old age, poor disability benefits, bad company....they were having a good time laughing with him but did throw in Breakfast and a free locking chain for the bikes.
After breakfast in partially overcast skies we headed north for our mid day destination, My Tremblant. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1217511941#.V2WFC-3_smw.email....Not sure why this is not in Blue....I copied and pasted the route sent to me by twisty....this is our route to Madawaski.....maybe you can type it in the https bar and get the map. @3 years ago I skied here but do not recognize it as this is now akin to Whistler with all the Hotels.Condos and new village....

On to Madawaski Quebec with Twisty finding the curvy back roads for a good part of the way...sorry no pics to busy trying to stay on the tarmac.....booked into the same hotel we stayed at last fall....again we had to chain the bikes this time with an alarm system...what is it with Quebec. Don had a disappointing dinner here...Twisty and I were finished eating while Don was still waiting.....he had to ask numerous times where is my meal....a complaint to the Manager later scored us six beers...thanks Don.
We did get a nice full breakfast next morning and our final leg of this trip. We headed through to Renfrew and on home via Bancroft and Haliburton arriving home about 3 pm....A great trip with little rain but cold......many times dipping to 9 c ....but with all the protective gear it was comfortable riding.

Americade June 8/9-16

After breakfast we headed out on a Geo Cache but found that the park was not accessible until 10am so we set off north of Lake George and somehow ended up in Glen Falls which is south of Lake George....how the......o well it was just a ride and with 3 GPS we still got lost.....eventually after refueling at Dunkin Donuts we found our way home. A stop at a biker outlet store led to a chance meeting with a couple from NY who are fellow HORIZON UNLIMITED members and we have some friends in common. They have been to South Africa and Europe and both their GS 1200 bikes had stickers of the many places.....next week they are taking advantage of Air Canada's special shipping package and will go to Toronto and send themselves and bikes to Amsterdam

Don is under the weather this evening so Ken and I headed into town for dinner and a view of the bikes on the main street.

June 9th................................................................................................................................................
Twisty planned a route that would take us through Warrensburg and a circle tour through some back country roads and return us to Warrensburg.......lol. Up 9n then 28 with a left at # 8 on some fantastic twisties with little to no traffic. We stopped in the village of Wells and had the best lunch so far.....
Wells Lunch stop........................................................This village was on # 30 and led us south when we should have been going north but through picturesque scenery and great roads after we crossed some lake and headed towards and Fish Harbour.........we didn't realize until 12 miles from Lake George that we south of our destination....o well it is an adventure after all. tomorrow we will head to Vermont with twisty already for the Geo Cache hunt.................................................................................................

Americade- Day 3- June 7/16

Awoke to a bright sunny Tuesday........it was 7am and my riding buddies appeared hungry....so it was into Lake George to the Tikki Resort for breakfast. Afterwards, up to Americade headquarters to get a 10.00 parking ticket, good for the week. We headed down to the Vendor section for some window shopping.....Twisty made the 1st purchase and now has proper rain resistant and armored riding pants....though he is perplexed at what it cost him. Don may have actually made the 1st purchase as he bought a shade screen for his garmin. J&M who supplied our bluetooth headsets have a booth, as I have been experiencing problems with my unit, I approached them and they took my unit in for testing. Upon my return an hour later....they said they were giving me a new unit and did so.....FREE.
I needed a new face shield and that turned out to be my purchase.

See Don's Tatoo

Tonight we headed into town to observe the many bikes, trikes, spiders which are bumper to bumper along the road....tomorrow likely a ride.

Americade-Day 2 -June 06/16

Day 2 found 2 of the 3amigos starring in the windows at 7am looking for breakfast at the Super 8 even though they had asked for a 7.30 sitting.
looking dejected

ted                     sitting down to a hardy breaky of boiled eggs, toast, cereal, fresh muffins, coffee and juices,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Next the Ferry crossing to Wolf Isl

the 1st ferry is free to the Island which is in  Canada waters.

The second ferry is $ 8.00 and service by a grumpy Captain....no small talk...lol....this one holds about 4 cars and is loaded from the side. USA customs was pleasant and quick and we headed for Watertown on semi twisties.
Our GPS" wanted to take us to the Interstate 81 at Watertown.....so we pulled into a Cracker Barrel for a break and some human directions which took us on an alternate route to # 3 and on to #30. Along which we stopped for lunch....

We picked up # 28 and 9N TO COMPLETE our run which was some of the best riding of the day. We arrived at our cabin, The Amber Lantern around 4pm, just in time for moi to catch the Y&R but I forgot and missed it...dang

Americade and Beyond June 5/16- Day 1

It was 1 am before the 3 amigos were under way. Don, Ken herein referred to as twisty and myself are on a trip to Lake George NY to Americade 2016. The town will see in excess of 50,000 bikes over the next week.......we plan on staying until Thursday then will head into Vermont and Quebec before our return home.
Moi ready

All 3 departure

Super 8 Arrival
Comfy......................................Underway by 1 pm with Ken leading us via hwy118 through Haliburton, Bancroft to Denbigh where we made a right on 41 to Napanee with a stop in Colyne for fuel both for the bikes and ourselves.
At Napanee we picked hwy 2 to Kingston. Rain dodged all the way as we came upon wet sections with the rain 1 step ahead of us. Twisty led the way until I had to take over as Kingston's made street was closed for construction and the Twist's Gps was likely lost....I arrived at out destination without my riding buddies and turned back fearing a problem. Turned out Twisty had nature call in the midst of a slightly built up area near CFB Kingston and I found him watering a tree on the side of the road while Don appeared to be the lookout.
Appears I have been relegated to the floor as I refuse to sleep with either of the other 2...LOL
Tomorrow we will find the Ferry for the crossing to Wolf Isl......then on to NY by a second ferry.......til tomorrow...night

Infiltrating BMW Rally @ Camp Tamarack-May27 2016

Joined the Bmw Riders  Group back in January to see what all the hype was with this moto culture.....So this week end they are hosting a get together/rally t a local kids camp with ride outs during the day and adventure speakers during the evening. I no longer own a BMW, hence the title, as I now ride a Suzuki 650 Vstrom.
