Last night we packed our bikes for an early start….not …..2 vehicles blocked our exit, one in the garage and one in front of the door, We had the patrons of the hotel awakened so we could make our exit. I guess things happen for a reason, the late start, though only by a few minutes resulted in a taxi pulling up to me as I was about to leave and handing me my sun glasses. I had left them in A taxi on the ride to Tajin the morning before…….so who would expect that they would be returned…….you know, I did…..this is Mexico.
About 1/2 hour into our ride, we turned back, Pedro had left something behind…….I said I new a short cut and we took this route…in 10 minutes we where in town but lost…..finally found the hotel and retrieved the article. The topes ( speed bumps ) are a pain when you are trying to make time……they cause traffic to back up …….are hard on the bike and my rear end as often you don’t see them in time to slow down..LOL…
Stopped for coffee at a restaurant overlooking the valley we just passed, what a view, wouldn’t want this deck to collapse.
PEDRO WAS LOW ON FUEL, so we stopped at a small hamlet and asked where we might find fuel….the lad on the bike pointed across the road to a roadside stall…..yep, 1 gallon in a jug, it looked like urin but smelled like gas…saw Pedro put his nose to the top of the bottle and mutter HIGH TEST. One mile down the road we came to a big Pemex Station and we both filled our tanks…..seems the Suzuki is outperforming the Triump on fuel consumption.
The map we have is not quite accurate, the roads poorly marked and we are lost more often than not…when you ask for directions and unable to speak spanish, you get different answers from a variety of folks, all in hand gestures that are most confusing. It seems to me to ask 3 people and go the opposite to the best answer.
Tonight we are in Veracruz….at the nicest motel we have stayed to date and pricy by my standards at $ 590.00 pesos. No Internet so will send post late
Are you sure you were not supposed to drink that bottle of rocket fuel!
