Cusco to Machu Picchu-Dec 7 2012-Part 1

The road really only goes to Ollantaytambo. Some know a back road that can get you to a Hydro dam sit then you leave your bike and walk along the rail tracks for a few hours.....we where not up to the hike or the time.........We took the Peru rail line at a cost of $158.00US return. The trip takes 3 1/2 hours over a distance of 97k. We were served coffee and juice and a large Cookie on route. The trip is well worth the relaxing and scenic ride as you pass through canyons that are breathtaking.

Possibly a new road to Aqua Calientes...though this pic doesn't show it...it was steep and a cliff hanger.

Note the mountains...either side

This is the World's First Vertigo/Eco lodge is over 300 feet on a sheer faced Rock Cliff where for 500.00 a night ( 3 nihttps://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g294321-d8023775-Reviews-Skylodge_Adventure_Suites-Urubamba_Sacred_Valley_Cusco_Region.html#photos;geo=294321&detail=8023775&ff=276214213&albumViewMode=hero&aggregationId=101&albumid=101&baseMediaId=276214213&thumbnailMinWidth=50&cnt=30&offset=-1&filter=7&autoplay=ght Minimum ) you can get your fix of living in the air....you sip over to the bar/restaurant for meals....you have your own suite with most amenities....just relax.....are you kidding....nope...it's booked solid......they are going to build more

 To be Continued........  good night
