Late breakfast in Canoa this morning......then off roading...well dirt riding for the better part of the day.
Our first stop was to visit Barry Reid who like myself is from Muskoka....Huntsville to be exact. I met Barry 4 years ago on my 2nd trip to Canoa that year. Barry, then was in the process of starting a small farm with Eco tourism in mind....the barn in the pictures is under construction with multiplr rooms which will be dormitory sleeping quarters. Presently Barry and his Partner are harvesting cocoa beans (their own plus from neighbouring small farms) drying them outside and storing them in the rooms.
Barry is looking to take the raw product to the finished stage of various products to sell locally and abroad. He is looking for investors ...so if you are looking for an adventure and business in paradise let me know and i will put you in touch.
Barry has also opened a section of the property for parties with a band area and bar.....of course Covid has interrupted this venture for the moment.
After leaving Finca Verde we stopped into BeerKingo a Micro brewery, and now a vacation spot with new cabanas, pool and bar serving Beerkingo 7 to 10% alcohol brew.
I let Athir sample the beer, choosing a coke for self....reason ...that is another story 2 years old.
Our route plan was to follow this dirtroad until we met up with the hwy toSan Isidro.....we are so happy that we followed through....the scenery was awesome. Not a road for the feint of heart or even the experienced rider if conditions were wet.
Yesterday we did the backroad which runs from the new restaurant Agua Fria
on the San Isidro road towards Rio Muchacho Eco Farm and out to Hwy E15....this trail had a number of streams to cross...again in the rainy season I cannot imagine how the farmers get out.....
Though the girls had closed the restaurant for the day and tables and chairs had been put away....they saw us and ran out welcoming us back and opened just for us....though we had to eat what was offered...jeje
Back to the Condo to do a load of wash and pack as we leave for 3 weeks or more tomorrow morning...will do my best to cover our trip daily if we have internet.
